This study aims to develop a voice-interactive generative AI system specialized in individual dialects of the Kyushu and Okinawa regions. In recent years, regional dialects—an important part of local cultural heritage—have faced the risk of extinction. This research seeks to address this issue by developing a generative AI model tailored to specific dialects and applying it to dialect learning. The target dialect in this study is highly endangered and extremely low-resource. Since the performance of generative AI models based on large language models generally depends on the amount of available data, generating text in low-resource dialects is typically challenging. However, this study has already obtained tens of thousands of words of data in the target dialect. By leveraging these data and fine-tuning existing models through transfer learning and related techniques, we aim to construct an efficient and high-quality natural language generation model even under low-resource conditions.
本研究では、九州・沖縄の個別方言に特化した音声対話型の生成AIを開発する。 近年、地域の文化財たる方言が消滅の危機にある。本研究は、方言に特化した生成系AIを開発して方言学習に活用することで、消滅危機問題の解決を目指す。今回の対象方言は、消滅の危機にあり非常に低資源である。大規模言語モデルを基盤とする生成AIの精度はデータ量に依存するため、低資源の方言の生成は一般に困難である。しかし本研究は、既に対象方言について数万語のデータを入手しており、それらデータを活用しながら既存のモデルを転移学習等でトレーニングすることで、低資源でも効率的かつ高品質な自然言語生成モデルを構築することができる。
